David Horton

David William Horton was born June 6, 1955.

David William Horton, resident of San Diego since 1986, passed away on August 10, 2017. He had battled small cell cancer of the prostate since November 2017. David was an employee of Risk Logic since May 2002.

He was born June 6, 1955 in Brawley, California to Harold ‘Wimpy’ Horton and Irene Elaine Whitted Horton. He grew up in El Centro, California, attending Imperial Valley Junior College and graduating from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. His career as a Fire Protection Engineer began with Factory Mutual Engineering, then located in Anaheim, California, and worked for the firm for 19 years. In 2002, he joined Risk Logic Inc. as our West Coast resident engineer working as a Senior Property Loss Prevention Engineer.

David also spent 16 years as an adult leader for the local units of the Boy Scouts of America and completed the Wood Badge training in 2008. He enjoyed sport shooting and was a Range Safety Officer with the South Bay Rod and Gun Club in Dulzura, California. David was also an active member of the E Clampus Vitus, Squibob Chapter.

David was a very skilled engineer in the field of Property Loss Prevention. His expertise involved seismic design of fire protection systems. He was well versed in the understanding the differences in the Codes, NFPA and FM Global standards. He handled many challenging occupancies with excellence.

He was a world traveler for his job visiting Taiwan, Japan and Australia on an annual basis.

One of David’s best qualities was his ability to research a problem and come up with multiple solutions. Clients loved working with David.

He was fun loving and a pleasure to be around.

We will miss our friend and Risk Logic family member and cherish the time we shared together.
