A four-story hotel that was under construction in Ventura County, California, caught fire on the night of April 12, 2022. At the Mian Plaza and Convention Center, located just off of Highway 101 near Las Posas Road and Ventura Boulevard, the fire broke loose at the construction site at around 7:15 p.m. Many residents as well as ABC7 Eyewitness News reported sights of “thick, black smoke [that] could be seen from miles away” near and around Ventura County. There is no information on the cause of the fire just yet, but it is known that it started on the second floor before rising to the upper floors and taking out the entire building. Around three hours later, the fire had been taken care of, leaving just smoke rising from above the debris.

The building that was under construction was set to be part of the Mian Convention Center of Camarillo and would include a 44,000 ft2 space which would consist of one other hotel, multiple restaurants, and a conference center. However, the construction site seems to be a total loss and the fire almost fully destroyed the building, starting from the bottom of the building and eventually reaching the roof.
