A massive fire erupted at Reliable Paper Recycling in Jersey City on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 11. This fire triggered a seven-alarm response, producing thick black smoke visible for miles. Responders encountered significant difficulties due to the wind, which caused burning paper to scatter on the grass and float to the New Jersey Turnpike. However, they did manage to put out the fire quickly.

Significant amounts of paper and cardboard contributed to the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
The company had a clean record of no fires throughout its 30 years of operation. However, in a matter of minutes, the fire destroyed their entire business. The company was one of the biggest paper recycling businesses in the tri-state area.
